One Of My “Weeks Off,”
But Still Thinking Of You

This week is supposedly a “week off” for this columnist, but as regular readers know—I still try to offer some comments or cartoons or whatever to induce you to visit my website every week.

This week’s offering is two cartoons which appeared in the flood of birthday greeting cards in which I’ve been happily swimming for the past couple of weeks.  Both cards particularly appealed to me because of the humor and the fact that they reflect two of my favorite things—martinis and newspapers.

The first cartoon below came on a birthday card from two longtime friends, Jane and John Ellsworth.

The card below came from two other longtime friends, Karen and Pat Drickey.

My thanks to the Ellsworths and the Drickeys and the scores of other people who have sent birthday greetings my way—and thanks to those readers who spend time with my column each week whether it’s abbreviated or full length.
